History - the Moulin des Châteaux was first mentioned by name in a census of 1698. However it is believed to be one of the two mills to be given to Hugues, Bishop of Avranches by Robert the Magnificent, Duke of Normandy after his pilgrimage to the area in the 10th century. (Note: this was a couple of hundred years before King Henry II had to do public penance in Avranches for ‘ridding himself of his troublesome priest’ - the Archbishop of Canterbury - Thomas Becket!). Details, plans and photos on our web site - www.lemoulindeschateaux.com - give a good impression of the property as a fantastic ‘gite’ concern with a potential annual rental £25,000. Although that may well be the property’s main attraction for some buyers, it does have huge potential for others including - working from home / commute - close by second family home for parents or children - seperate large outbuildings for developing workshops - great potential for hosting corporate displays/events with lots of space for exhibits / marquees / parking. 'Green' living - over 4 acres of woodland for supplying fuel to log fires in both dwellings.

The Chalet is situated in a sunny location in a small hamlet in the village of La Baume, approximately five minutes drive from St Jean D'Aulps. The location has good access for both Morzine (25 minutes by car) and Lake Leman (20 minutes by car). It is situated just over an hours drive from Geneva airport. The nearest skiing to the chalet is just 10 minutes away at the pretty ski domain of La Grande Terche, with access to the main linked Portes du Soleil ski domain being a 20 minute drive away at Ardent, or Morzine. In a privileged position halfway between lake Geneva and Morzine, the little village of la Baume has many trumps up its sleeve: - Trout fishing, in the Jotty lake and the river Dranse. - Hiking in the grandiose and precipitous setting of Mont Billat (1896m), by easy paths up to the pastoral Nifflon chapel and the grazing lands of the Pleney mountain. - For gourmands, don't forget the little detour by the beekeeper's chalet, where some of the best mountain honey can be found. Situated mid-way between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, Morzine is stunning for Alpine scenery, nestled between forests and summits. Here life is leisurely, and the village has lost nothing of its original charm and Savoyard way of life. Ideally placed right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Morzine is the gateway to a marvellous winter playground of 650 km of ski-slopes. In summer, these slopes become sign-posted footpaths for trekking and MTB. Not forgetting the miles of open spaces surrounding the ski-runs from where you can head off into the middle of nowhere? Either for a few days or a longer holiday, both idlers and sports fans will find everything they need for a real break with family or friends - everything for a perfect, peaceful and pleasurable holiday. Sharing, laughing, playing, discovering, with loads of thrills, fresh air, great food and views. You?ll have a ball! Our Self-Catering Chalet near to St Jean D'Aulps gives you a great opportunity to explore some of the wonderful villages nearby... Situated in the heart of the valley, the village of Saint Jean d'Aulps has inherited its name from the old French word for "alpage" meaning high mountain grazing land. Thanks to its Abbey and the monks who lived there, Saint Jean d'Aulps can claim to be the ancestor of all the surrounding villages. Those who like hiking can find here marvelous summits and combs : the Roc d'Enfer, the Graydon comb, the Roc de Tavaneuse and its lake, the Pic de la Corne and many more. With the growth of the skiing industry, Saint Jean d'Aulps has also become an important winter sports resort, which has many natural advantages for skiers. The Saint Jean d'Aulps Ski Domain has an excellent snow record, and is an integral part of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Our Self-Catering Chalet near to St Jean D'Aulps gives you a great opportunity to explore some of the wonderful villages nearby... La Grande Terche St Jean D Aulps is a family resort in the Portes du Soleil ski area, with a grandiose landscape at the foot of the Roc d'Enfer Altitude : 900/1800 metres. Link with la Chévrerie : 12 kms 13 slopes : 3 greens, 3 blues, 7 reds. 9 skilifts : 1 gondola, 2 chairlifts, 6 draglifts. One of fourteen resorts that make up the domain Portes Du Soleil - Its own ski area the La Grande Terche has been the venue for the French National ski championships and offers 34km of varied skiing served by 16 lifts. There are excellent facilities for all the levels of skier and snowboarder. Chalet Emilie is located in the hamlet of Les Esserts de La Baume. It is easily accessed from either Morzine or from Thonon (Lake Geneva). We find that either as a family, or from feedback from previous guests, it is just over 20 minutes drive to the Telecabin at Ardent, just past Lake Montriond, which gives you fast access to Les Linderets which is a wonderful place for families to be based for skiing Avoriaz / Morzine or over into Chatel. People who hire a car and usually stay in Morzine often drive to Ardent which takes around 15 minutes from the Nyon side of Morzine, so you may aswell benefit from our great value rates and drive just that little bit further! From the UK, you may wish to take your own car and if so, La Baume is an approximate 8 hour drive from Calais, although, we have found that flying with Easyjet, or Ryanair, and hiring an ordinary family car from Geneva airport can be just as cheap, and as Morzine is only a one and a quarter hour drive this can be a hassle free way of beginning your holiday.

Waikoloa is a golfer's paradise. It is also a beach paradise, an adventure paradise, a nature paradise, a geology paradise, shopping paradise, and an aloha spirit paradise. The only thing not to love is the plane ride from home. The Fairway Villas at Waikoloa Beach Resort is located 25 minutes north of the Kailua-Kona Airport. This ten acre lush tropical paradise is situated within the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course, in the same resort as the King's Golf Course and within minutes of all the Kohala coast resort golf courses. The west side of Hawaii is blessed with consistently dry sunny weather and is perfect for golf. The Fairway Villas are loaded with luxury features and distinctive Hawaiian plantation architecture. The Anaehoomalu Bay (A-Bay) fish pond and beach are located across the road and through the Marriott Outrigger; it is a short walk or a two minute drive. The sunset is beautiful from our lanai, but, sunset across the ancient Hawaiian fishponds never disappoint. The famous Hapuna Beach Park is just a ten minute drive on the Queens highway. Hapuna Beach is repeatedly named one of the ten best beaches in the world. Mauna Kea and Mauna Lani beaches are also close by; we prefer the A-Bay beach at Waikoloa. We have been coming to Waikoloa for many years. We have stayed at The Shores and the Vista Waikoloa. The Fairway Villas were built in 2003. After renting in The Fairway Villas a couple of trips we decided to buy a condominium. We find this condominium comfortable with wireless/wired broadband Internet access, stereo, DVD player, and all the amenities you would expect in a new condominium. Kona coffee taste much better on our lanai than it does on the North Carolina beach. This condominium is ground floor unit so that lanai extends out into a wide lawn overlooking the ninth fairway surrounded with colorful fragrant tropical flora. There is no need to lug the groceries or golf clubs up the elevator. Our condominium is also at the very end of the road so there is no traffic to contend with. The pictures, floor plans, charts, and maps on our web site will tell you more about our unit that I can in mere words. I will tell you that this condominium is complete with air conditioning, microwave, dishwasher, ice maker in the huge refrigerator, and a full-size stacked washer and dryer. We find the washer and dryer very useful when packing light! The grounds are well kept and the infinity swimming pool quite unique. The Kings' Shops are a few minutes walk around the lake for fine shopping and dining. There is even a food court for the kids or a quick snack. The Kings' Shops have a grocery store, exclusive boutiques such as Louis Vuitton, fine art galleries like the Dolphin Gallerie, Crazy Shirts, The Gecko Store, and live music. Adjacent to the Kings' Shops is The Queens' Marketplace which is currently under construction. Also in the Waikoloa Resort area is the Hilton Waikoloa, it is fabulous in itself, but, it also hosts the Dolphin Quest Center where you can swim with the dolphins. This is an experience you will not soon forget. The Big Island of Hawaii has a lot to offer everyone, from the active volcano where the rocks ooze, to secluded black sand beaches, four-wheel-drive adventures, scuba and snorkeling, hiking in rainforest and desert lava beds, biking, horseback riding, deep-sea fishing, surfing, parasailing, submarine adventures, and helicopter sightseeing. Oh yes, did I mention we play golf at Waikoloa? The truth is, in order to afford it, we have to rent it; we hope you will enjoy Hawaii as much as we do. For a very limited time we are offering an introductory. This is an introductory rate and will not last long. http://www.arkadia.com/rimw-t2810/

Set in an acre of parklike gardens, this attractive property and gite, nestles in the tiny hilltop hamlet of Le Mas, 2 kms from Roquecor and 5kms from Montaigu de Quercy. It offers the perfect combination of rural isolation while still having neighbours near enough if you need them. 'A little bit of paradise' was how some guests described it. The garden has a variety of mature trees and shrubs including walnut, plum, almond and apple trees, silk trees, Indian Bean trees, an ornamental cherry, beech trees and sumacs to name but a few. It has a fully tiled 8x4 saltwater swimming pool with a swimming lane for those wanting a bit more exercise. The house is set almost at the end of a no through road so there is little if any passing traffic, just the odd tractor. The house itself is built into the side of a hill and is spread over three floors with a huge attached barn offering numerous opportunities for extending the property. It has a dry cellar and cave, ideal for starting your very own wine collection. The house also has a lower ground floor consisting of a bathroom which would make an ideal wet room, a large storage room with plumbing for a washing machine and a 12 metre square wine cave. Petit Romarin, the guest cottage, is set a bit away from the house with it's own garden and 6x4 chlorine swimming pool. It is very secluded and has an excellent summer and winter rental record (20 weeks so far this year) for those wanting an additional income. High season rents are 900 euros per week and low season from 200 euros a week or 650 euros per month for long winter lets.It is equally suited to occupation by extended family and being all on one level, is ideal for the elderly. Roquecor, the nearest village, is a busy place with a lovely cafe/bistro, not to mention a chef who trained with John Burton Race (French Leave) and previously worked at Quaglinos and the River Cafe. There is also an epicerie which has daily deliveries from a local boulangerie as well as a post office. The slightly larger village of Montaigu de Quercy has a supermarket, bank, pharmacy, several cafes, a pizzeria and the International Club which offers a variety of French lessons as well as a host of other activities, including a Saturday morning coffee drop in, making it a great place to make new friends. The larger towns of Villeneuve sur Lot and Agen are both within half and hour's drive and cheap flights can be taken from Bergerac (1 hour) or Toulouse (1hr 15). Being within easy distance of Toulouse is a huge bonus during the winter months when many cheap airlines drastically reduce their flights. Toulouse is a major regional airport and so is served all year round by Easyjet, Flybe, British Airways and Aer Lingus. Schooling is available in Roquecor which has a maternelle (infants school) while older children go to Valeilles and St Amans du Pech on the school bus. Secondary education is available either at Lauzerte or Penne d'Agenais. The Salon Approximately 40 square metres in size, the L-shaped salon really is the heart of the home. With its cathedral ceiling, it is beautifully cool in the summer and having just been completely re-insulated, it's also delightfully cosy in the winter. The old fireplace houses a 13kw Dru woodburner (royal warrant from the Dutch royal family) with a hearth of centuries old handmade terre cuite tiles. The floors are in old pine and with a dual aspect and a velux window, natural light is abundant. From the salon is a door out to the barn giving numerous options for extending the house. A wooden staircase leads up to the mezzanine level which is currently used as an office and as extra guest space. The Dining Room Personally my favourite room in the house, the Dining Room has French doors on two sides, one side leading out to the terrace in the front garden, the other to the raised oak terrace overlooking the valley. It has an enormous working fireplace with old cast iron fireback, a floor made from ancient handmade terre cuite tiles, some still bearing the pawprints of animals which walked across them as they dried in the sun. From the dining room is a door into the kitchen, another down to the half landing with the old original front door and from then on to the cellar and cave and a lovely doorway with exposed beams into the salon. The Kitchen Small but perfectly formed! The kitchen is off the dining room and separated by a stud wall which could easily be removed to make an impressive L shaped kitchen diner. It has a range of fitted cupboards at floor and eye level as well as plumbing for a dishwasher. There is a gas connection enabling the kitchen to be supplied with gas from the main tank rather than fiddly gas bottles. There are windows to the two sides giving ample natural light. The Master Bedroom The master bedroom suite is on the same level as the Salon and dining room as is common with many French houses. The reason for this is that they are generally much cooler in the hot summer months as the heat will rise to the upper floors. It is fitted with a large double wardrobe and has double window out onto the valley. The ceiling is beamed with a plafond à la français. The floor is solid wood. Two steps lead up to the double doors into the large ensuite bathroom. You'd be hard pushed to find a bigger bathroom than this! Created from a former pigsty it has large windows to three sides. But if you are worried about all these windows, don't be. The house is not overlooked at all but in order to preserve your modesty, there are blinds at all the windows. The bathroom has a white bathroom suite with pedestal handbasin and low level WC. Bedroom Two A spacious double bedroom with two velux windows, this bedroom has some lovely exposed beams. It has a solid wood floor and three double electricity points. The roof was recently insulated with thermal insulation making it cool in the heat and warm in the cold. The velux windows are fitted with thermal blinds which, likewise, keep in the heat and prevent the room becoming too warm. Bedroom Three A spacious double bedroom with two velux windows, this bedroom has some lovely exposed beams. It has a solid wood floor and three double electricity points. The roof was recently insulated with thermal insulation making it cool in the heat and warm in the cold. The velux windows are fitted with thermal blinds which, likewise, keep in the heat and prevent the room becoming too warm. The Family Bathroom The Family bathroom on the second floor has recently been refitted using top quality Villeroy and Boch sanitary ware. It has a large, deep bath with shower over, pedestal washbasin, low level flush toilet and a velux window to give lots of light. The floor has been painted in a delightful French green. The Oak Terrace Double doors from the dining room lead out onto a wonderful raised oak terrace with views across the valley. It has plenty of room not just for a table for 6 but also for a shaded area sipping a glass of wine and reading a book out of the midday sun. The Gardens The Gardens are a particular feature of the house and offer many lovely shady spots for quiet contemplation. To the side of the house is a covered terrace, shaded by a mature virginia creeper. There is also an ancient vine which produced abundant crops of delicious grapes every year. The area of garden immediately in front of the house is edged with an old stone wall bordered by mature plants such as roses, lavatera, campsis, silk tree, Indian Bean Tree, and numerous seasonal perennials such as fuchsia, campanula and fritillaries. Walnut trees, a poplar and an ornamental cherry near the pool provide shade from which a hammock is slung throughout the summer to escape the midday heat... While the top part of the garden is more open with a variety of apple, almond, sumac and plum trees and looks out over miles of open countryside offering endless opportunities for long walks and hikes. The Gite Petit Romarin is a gorgeous two bedroom gite with working bread oven. It has a large lounge/diner with corner kitchen with an antique double marble sink and exposed stonework, a spacious master bedroom with doors out onto the herb garden, a second double bedroom with exposed stonework and French doors out onto a secluded front garden with a raised terrace and a shower room with an old porcelain sink. It has full gas central heating. Petit Romarin is set in it's own secluded garden, bordered on one side by an ancient drystone wall. It also has it's own 6x4 chlorine pool. For those looking for an extra income it has an excellent letting record, having previously featured in Alistair Sawday's 'Special Places to Stay' guide. Despite this year being a bad year for lettings, we have achieved 20 weeks of bookings throughout the spring and summer. It also has a good record for winter lets. It would also make lovely accommodation for those looking for a home for extended family and being all on one level, is suitable for the elderly. The property is also available for long term let (minimum 3 years) at a rent of 1300 euros pcm for the house and gite or 850 euros pcm for the main house, barn and land only. http://www.arkadia.com/xwvp-t507/
