Many of the investors view the “southernmost tip of Africa” as the perfect location for a retirement or holiday home. Reasons for the area’s increasing popularity are its seclusion, safety and lack of industrial activity, whilst pollution is virtually unknown. Prices are also still reasonable in despite the very strong capital growth achieved over the last two years. Prices for stands in beginning-2004 were selling at about R50 000 while homes were selling from about R350 000. Stands (vacant erfs) are being marketed (March 2006) from about R350 000, whilst homes are being marketed from about R650 000 – showing a dramatic increase of about 700% in stands / vacant erfs and about 100% increase for homes. Prime property on the beach carried in 2004 a price tag of up to R650 000 for stands and up to R3,5-million for houses. The homes in this end of the market has not shown the same dramatic increases experience in the lower priced properties. Background Information : Situated one kilometer from L’Aghulas, the southernmost tip of Africa, Struisbaai is one of the Cape's best kept secrets. This small, picturesque coastal village boasts the longest white coastline in the Southern Hemisphere, ideal for safe bathing, boating and watersports. The migrating southern right whale herds pass this hospitable coast to mate and calve in the secluded enclaves along the shoreline, making Struisbaai an imperative destination for the nature lover. Struisbaai is particularly well known for its excellent fishing. There is some debate as to the origin of the name Struisbaai. Some authorities believe that it means 'strawbay' and it earned this name by the fishermen's cottages that were originally built of straw. Others claim the name Struisbaai is derived from the Dutch vogelstruijs or 'ostrich'. The low shrub-covered terrain bordering the sandy coast is certainly ostrich country and you will still see a good number of these giant birds sharing the land with dairy cattle and merino sheep. According to legend, Struisbaai is named for the size of its beach - an old Nederland word for "huge". Major Attractions : - Visit the southern-most tip of Africa at Aghulhas, the official position of the tip is 34° 49' 58" south and 20° 00' 12" east. A cairn marks the tip's exact position. It is at this longitudinal point that the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. - Hotagterklip Cottages is fishermen's cottages at the entrance to Struisbaai, built by early fishermen. Some of the cottages are now used as holiday homes and have all been declared as national monuments. . They are often featured in the paintings of many South African artists. The unusual name of this little place comes from the days of the first wagon track, when a stone outcrop imposed a sharp detour on all travelers. Most of the old cottages were allowed to fall into ruin, until recently when the original cottages have been expertly restored. - The famous Aghulhas lighthouse, a very popular attraction, was built to aid the early explorers on their passage of the rough seas off Cape Aghulhas. It is the second oldest working lighthouse in Southern Africa. Stone mined from the adjacent limestone quarry provided the raw materials for its construction. The building also houses a unique lighthouse museum and restaurant. Remains of ancient stone fish traps used by the Khoe Khoe people can be seen to the east of the lighthouse. - Shell shops are a must visit for the shell collector and browser. Collectors and casual beachcombers prize the delicate shell of the Argonaut alike. Their occurrence on South African beaches is somewhat seasonal and stranding is most frequent between April and August at the end of the spawning season. - Graveyard of ships, the Zoetendal, Birkenhead and Arniston are some of the many shipwrecks found along the Aghulhas coastline. Showpieces from these shipwrecks are on display at the Bredasdorp Shipwreck Museum. - Anglican Church is a small restored thatch-roof church, which is a national monument. It is a much sought after venue for small weddings and services. Outdoors Activities : - The quant fishing harbour is at present being used by both fishing and ski boats. - Walk along the 14 km uninterrupted white beach called “Die Plaat”, and look for some unique Nautilus shells along the shoreline of the bay. Enjoy swimming or sunbathing at this popular swimming beach. There are change-rooms alongside the beach, with showers and toilets. - Boat based whale watching from the Struisbaai harbour is a popular attraction when these gentle giants arrive from the arctic waters to mate and calve during May to December. They can be seen from L´Agulhas to Infanta with the biggest concentration in the bay at De Hoop /Infanta. During this period they are visible from the beach. They play or move about slowly with their calves. The best vantage point is at Koppie Alleen in the De Hoop Reserve. The local whale population is increasing at 7% per annum. Bordered by blue mountain ranges, set in undulating hills in a kaleidoscope of gold, green and brown, with endless beaches and dunes. Fragrances of fynbos which merge with mountain and sea air. A RICH HISTORY: The history of this area is closely interwoven with the early history of the Cape. A few stock farmers established themselves here as early as 1710. Well-known families settled as pioneers in the southern coastal area, as did shipwreck survivors of various nationalities. It is believed that this blending of cultures is the reason for the hospitality and sincerity of the people of the Overberg. In 1824 Moravian missionaries founded the Elim Mission Station in the Strandveld on the banks of the Nuwejaars River. This enabled them to spread the gospel to the inhabitants and to teach them basic skills. Bredasdorp was founded by Michiel van Breda in 1838 - he was the first Mayor of Cape Town and also laid the foundation of the Merino sheep industry on his farm Zoetendals Vallei. Napier like Bredasdorp, originated round a church. Van Breda and another leader, Pieter Voltelyn van der Byl, could not agree on the location of a church for the community. As a result two churches were built and two towns were founded in 1838. Napier was named after a former governor, Sir George Napier. In addition to farming, fishing has been an important industry since the early days. Both Waenshuiskrans / Arniston and Struisbaai were originally fishing villages. Today both towns are popular holiday resorts. The unique architecture of these fishermen's cottages is typical of this region, and many are proclaimed national monuments.

Strand South is still more affordable than Strand North. The appearance of Strand’s Platinum Mile between Central Beach Road & Greenways (specifically between Blakes Terrace & Strand Beach Hotel) had a very positive spinoff on property values in the suburb. The development of 3 upmarket apartment blocks right behind the Platinum Mile in Strand South during the last two years, also had a positive influence on especially the older apartments in the suburb – increasing in value & attracting investors who are upgrading the apartments interiors. Strand Background Information : General : The Strand offers you the convenience of city-like amenities & a world-class beach area - without losing its small town characteristics. Located in the Helderberg basin on the eastern edge of False Bay, it is within 20 minutes of Cape Town International airport & 45 minutes from Cape Town's CBD. Within a radius of 10 kilometers, you will find a Regional Shopping Centre, a variety of sports facilities including 4 golf courses, choice of secondary and primary schools, top medical facilities with all national financial & commercial institutions represented. It has a population of about 50 000. Strand’s main attraction is its 5 kilometers long sandy white beach – with a variety of water sports such as surfing, sailing, power boating, kayak & paddle skiing, wind-surfing & board sailing being enjoyed at various points along the beach front. Strand was nominated the best family beach in South Africa in 2007. Strand was founded in 1714 as a fishing town by Cape Malay slaves. It has evolved during the last 3 decades into vibrant part of the Helderberg basin, with a healthy mixture of retirees, families, business people & a seasonal inflow of holiday goers flocking to one of South Africa’s prime seaside destinations. The coast between the Lourens River mouth up to Rooi Els is very popular with beach fishermen and rock anglers, whilst organised and social diving activities beckon the more adventurous. Property Market : Properties in the Strand varies between entry level apartments of +- R300 000 to beachfront penthouses of more than R10 million & sea front houses up to R14 million. The biggest property growth points as of late has been the choice of new developments on Beach Road which is springing up - raising comparatives with Monte Carlo. Limitation on development ground bodes well in the long term for any property investment in the Strand. Capital growth rates achieved in the Strand during the 2004/2005 upswing in the South African property market, surpassed the national average rate of 23% by far...... Entry level units started in 2003 @ R90 000 for a 30sq.m 1-bedroom apartment - selling at present from R310000. That is a growth of 244% in 3,5 years or about 70% per year! Beach front apartments were selling in 2003 from about R6000 per sq.m to about R9000 per sq.m. Finding any beachfront property for less than R11 000 per sq.m is at present problematic. New developments has already been selling during the last 18 months for between R18 000 and R30 000 per sq.m - depending on its finishes and the units location in the apartment block. The own title neighborhoods have of late seen a surge in renovations with owners adding value to their properties - fuelled by the price hikes experienced in the town. The more sought after suburbs such as Strand North, has experienced capital growth rates between 2003 & 2006 of about 150 % (43% p.a.) - with the average house price raising from R450 000 to about R1,1 million. Capital growth in the Strand has during the last months of 2007 & beginning 2008 dropped from the abovementioned high levels along with the rest of the country – with buyers taking control of the market. Affordability has during the last year became a problem in the Strand market, creating a "roll-over effect" of potential buyers to less expensive areas such a Kuilsrivier, Brackenfell and even Grabouw. The adjacent Gordons Bay has experience very similar capital growth rates than the Strand. Future growth points in the Strand property market is the so-called AECI development node across from the Somerset Mall. This will be the last land available for development - eagerly awaited by investors.

Property Market : Properties in the Strand varies between entry level apartments of +- R300 000 to beachfront penthouses of more than R10 million whilst own title varies between townhouses of R400 000 & sea front houses up to R14 million. The biggest property growth points as of late has been the choice of new developments on Beach Road which is springing up - raising comparatives with Monte Carlo, as well as the entry level market sectional title properties starting at about R340 000. That is a growth of 244% in 5 years or about 48,8% per year! Capital growth has since the beginning of 2008 virtually flattened out – on par with the national trend. Beach front apartments were selling in 2003 from about R6000 per sq.m to about R9000 per sq.m. Beachfront property is at present selling from +-R7 100 per sq. to R30 000 per square meter. The existing complexes on Beach Road can be categorized in 4 different price brackets according to “age & finishes” with the average price per square meter: 1. Older than 20 years = R 7100 to R13 500 per sq/m 2. 10 – 20 years = R11 000 to R15 000 per sq/m 3. 3 – 10 years = R11 000 to R22 500 per sq/m 4. new developments = between R18 000 and R30 000 per sq.m - depending on its finishes and the units location in the apartment block. Resales are between R16 000 & R24 700 per sq/m. The own title neighborhoods have of late seen a surge in renovations with owners adding value to their properties - fuelled by the price hikes experienced in the town. The more sought after suburbs such as Strand North, has experienced capital growth rates between 2003 & 2008 of about 150 % (30% p.a.) - with the average house price raising from R450 000 to about R1,1 million. Capital growth in the Strand has during 2008 dropped from the abovementioned high levels along to less than 10% with the rest of the country – with buyers taking control of the market. A neat and cozy townhouse with a huge loft! 2 Bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Building Size: 120sqm Stand size: +-280 Open plan kitchen and lounge. 2 carports. Security estate. Spacious Kitchen Background Information Brits Property Market : Brits is since 2006 one of South Africa’s fastest growing towns, mainly due to the mines expanding and its workers needing to purchase a residential property or properties, stands, plots, farms, game farms or various investment properties. While there are buyers aplenty, properties are scarce. This has led to selling prices vaulting up to the point where they are now in line with Absa’s national average of around R900 000. Freestanding properties with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a swimming pool and double garage on 1000sqm in the suburbs of Voeltjiedorp and Boomdorp are now selling for R950 000. At the top end of the market, properties in the Brits area are being bought for as much as R2,5m, predominantly by company directors moving into the area due to its industrial and mining activities. In the older suburb of Central Brits, freestanding houses on 1500sqm have become popular with developers who are demolishing them to make way for blocks of flats. Two years ago, these were entry-level properties that sold for between R500 000 and R700 000. They are now selling for upwards of R750 000 and stock is in short supply Meanwhile, owners of large stands have cottoned on to the area’s widespread demand for accommodation and are building second dwellings on their properties to let. The rental market is booming to the point where they cannot accommodate demand. Currently, the average rental for a standard three bedroom home - most sought after by workers in the mining industry - is R3 800 a month. Future of Property Market : Housing trends in future will reflect a "tale of 2 plattelands", with mineral rich platteland areas and those nearer to the large metros fairing far better than the far-flung towns. As the large metros grow, some of the platteland areas will gradually be partly or fully "absorbed" by the metros. Areas northwest of Pretoria / Tshwane, such as Brits and Hartebeespoort Dam may be good examples. Platteland towns such as Brits which is nearer to the metros have got a lot going for them in future, being able to capitalise on economic activity flowing out from the metros. As they "burst at the seams", cashing in on some urban commuters, as well as the growing metro "getaway" market. The Rustenberg / Brits is benefiting from a commodities boom (especially Platinum), and Eskom is expanding electricity generation capacity around it. As Gauteng runs out of space, and as the existing space becomes more pricey, so new industrial and commercial activity will look for “new places to happen”, which will benefit Brits. General : Brits is a fertile, citrus-producing area irrigated by the waters of the Hartebeespoort Dam. The area is very safe with a good infrastructure including good schools, medical facilities and shopping and entertainment. Improved access to Pretoria, along with the expansion of its mining and industrial sectors, has transformed Brits from a sleepy little town into a residential, investment and holiday destination of choice. Within a radius of 50km, holidaymakers are spoilt for top destination choices, ranging from bushveld game lodges to award-winning resorts. Brits is not only an important agricultural irrigation area, it also has an adjacent industrial growth point, GaRankuwa. However, it’s the area’s ever-expanding mining activities that remain the major draw card for buyers. The biggest platinum mine in the world, Barplats Crocodile River Mine, is situated on the outskirts of the town. There is also the Brits-based Hernic Ferrochrome smelter, which happens to be the world’s fourth-largest ferrochrome producer. 94% of South Africa's platinum comes from the Rustenburg and Brits districts, which together produce more platinum than any other single area in the world. In addition, there is a large vanadium mine in the district. Commuting to work from one province to another every day might sound like a lot of driving, but Brits residents who work in Pretoria are spending far less time on the road than many people who both live and work in Gauteng. Since the construction of the Platinum Highway, it takes 35 minutes to travel from the North West province to Pretoria East. It’s also a relatively quick journey to Pretoria’s industrial suburb of Rosslyn, taking on average just 25 minutes. This, along with Brits’ proximity to some of the country’s most scenic bushveld, has become a draw card for a growing number of end-user and holiday-home buyers as well as a sizeable following of investors. History : Founded in 1924 on the farm Roode Kopjes, it was named after the owner Gert Brits. The First Boer War armistice treaty was signed in 1864 beneath a karee tree just to the south of Brits. A speech by General Hertzog in 1912 at the nearby De Wildt railway station led to the formation of the National Party. Climate : Temperatures in Brits range from 17º to 31º C (62º to 88º F) in the summer and from 3º to 21º C (37º to 70º F) in the winter. Annual rainfall measured on properties in Brits totals about 360mm (approx 14in), with almost all of it falling during the summer months, between October and April. Location : Location is one of Brits greatest natural advantages, especially for its farms and game farms properties as well as new developments offering stands for sale. Brits is located close to the Magaliesberg mountain range, which extends in the northeast about 130km (about 80 miles) from Pretoria to Rustenburg. Brits is also en route to the well known Pilanesberg Game reserve, located in the crater of an extinct volcano that features some of South Africa’s most unique holiday properties. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Brits offers an escape route to the real Africa. The Pecanwood golf estate next to Hartebeespoort Dam is a very high-end development that boasts a Jack Nicklaus signature course. Water sports predominate due to the Hartbeespoort Dam, which offers great boating and yachting as well as canoeing, windsurfing and swimming. Attractions : Atractions include the De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre (specializes in breeding and studying cheetah, king cheetah, brown hyena, suni, blue duiker and wild dogs), Granite Works (the larges diamond saws in the world are used to cut the blocks), Vaalkop Nature Reserve, Le Croc Tours, Rainbow Cultural Village, Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre, Arendsnes Sports Academy and Adventure centre. South Africa's North West Province is strategically located between Botswana in the west and the economic powerhouse and industrial heartland of Gauteng in the east. The province offers vast mineral resources, a sophisticated tourist industry and agricultural abundance. The province is home to bases for a number of international companies such as BMW, Samsung, Tiger Wheels, Shanghai Video and Audio, Lear Corporation, Kromberg and Schubert, Nestle, HJ Heinz, Hong Kong's Universal Enamelware, Firestone Tyres and Robert Bosch, to name a few. For property In the northern areas, the city of Rustenburg represents the major industrial and residential centre of the North West Province, boasting well developed industrial and mining infrastructures as well as world famous tourist resorts. In the densely populated far eastern areas you will find property in Mabopane, Brits, Ga-Rankuwa and Temba. These towns are residential, agricultural and industrial centres and the economy of the area is closely linked to that of neighbouring Gauteng. The North West Province offers a year round, sunny temperate climate with hot summers and mild winters. This is a summer-rainfall region and the weather is usually dry with a short rainy season from December to March. The hottest months are usually February and March and the coldest, July and August.

Kleinbaai at the Danger Point Peninsula proper is one of the places which placed Gansbaai itself on the map of nature-based tourism. The shark-diving boats leave from the boat launch at the small but charming natural harbour of Kleinbaai as well as one of the whale-watching boats, that also takes you on a tour around Dyer Island and Geyser Rock. A gravel road connects Kleinbaai along the rugged coast with many rockpools to the lighthouse at Danger Point. Though not very suitable for cars (even 4x4's struggle with this road), this track along the coast is a beautiful hike. A tidal pool allows for safe swimming. In -and dotted on the peninsula around Kleinbaai- are guesthouses, restaurants and bars. The bar in the harbour and the guesthouse-cum restaurant-cum bar in the middle of Kleinbaai are the places where the shark-divig community congregate. Background Information Gansbaai Location : Situated between Hermanus and Pearly Beach, Gansbaai lies at the foot of the Dynefontein Mountains and boasts a coastline rich in fynbos vegetation. It is about 140km from Cape Town International Airport, 45km from Hermanus and less than an hour from the most southerly point in Africa, Cape Agulhas. General : Named after a flock of wild Egyptian geese that are alleged to have congregated at the freshwater fountain near the harbour, Gansbaai is a dream getaway…. Gansbaai is known as “Big Two Town” - which refers to the large number of Great White Sharks and Southern Right Whales in the area. It is one of the best boat & land based whale watching spots (from the rocks in its suburb De Kelders), and is known as the centre of shark cage diving in the Western Cape. In this rapidly growing town you will still see the tradition of a fishing village – as life in Gansbaai is very much associated with the sea and the fishing industry. The cove that once provided safe landing spot for the small fishing vessels of yesteryear, was deepened, adequate moorings were built and today Gansbaai boats a modern harbour where many fishing trawlers come and go daily. To argument the fishing industry, a modern canning and fishmeal factory was built at the harbour site. Fishmongers are stocked with fresh catches daily. Along with the fishing industry, Gansbaai has grown into a charming village and holiday resort with its own municipality. It has two primary school, churches of various denominations and shops to provide for every need. There are plans to build a high school soon. Gansbaai is an area of contrast. It is situated in the centre of a number of small bays with miles of unspoiled beaches, nature reserves with over 1500 species of Fynbos, ancient Milkwood forests, rocky inlets, caves and spectacular views across Walker Bay. Surrounded by places like De Kelders, Perlemoenbaai, Kleinbaai, Franskraal, Pearly Beach, Stanford and Baardskeerdersbos, this area offers spellbinding views across the ocean and Walker Bay to Hermanus, with range upon range of mountains as backdrop across the ocean. Property : Gansbaai has been identified as one of the top ten places to invest in property in South Africa. The demand for coastal properties has become almost insatiable. Properties worth more than R500m were sold during the past two years. Real estate in this rapidly growing holiday destination offers magnificent sea and mountain views. Real estate investors and property buyers can select from a wide variety of houses and apartments. There are both beachfront houses with spectacular sunsets and views across the bay to Hermanus and Cape Point, as well as small holiday cottages. Through the eye of the investor it is better known as the gem of the Overberg. Permemoenbaai is a new development, with new houses, tarred roads and street lights. It is walking distance from the centre of Gansbaai. Gansbaai is fast moving towards becoming the Western Cape Overberg's “new Hermanus”.

The area has seen positive economic growth over many years. This situation has generated a tremendous growth for residential property demands in the greater Witbank area. Once dependant on coal, electricity and steel, Witbank is now booming with a far more diversified economy and the property market has never looked stronger. In the past, the mines and Eskom were the major drivers of the local property market. But these quasi-government organizations - or 'quangos' in popular parlance - have now divested themselves of their property holdings, transferring ownership to private individuals. In the process, they have fuelled a property boom in the area that has helped to spur the economic transformation of Witbank as a whole. The diversification of the economy has similarly brought about a broadening of the property base, which has opened the way to middle- and upper-class property development and trading. An influx of retail development is further evidence of the economic health of the town. It has been both a catalyst for and a consequence of increased residential property growth. There has also been an increase in the number of commercial property developments, reflecting the ever increasing demand for commercial and industrial property. The latest include the N4 Business Park and the new BHP Billiton head office General Background Information on Witbank: Situated approximately 120km from Johannesburg and 100km from Pretoria, heading eastwards on the Maputo Economic Corridor, lies the city of Witbank. Development in the area began during the mid 1800's when farmers settled in the Highveld and began mining coal from outcrops in riverbeds for cooking and heating purposes. Early attempts to exploit coal deposits failed until the construction of Paul Kruger's Pretoria/Lourenco Marques railway line reached the town in 1894. Witbank Colliery was established by Samuel Stanford and the Neumann group in Zeraatsfontein (now called Leraatsfontein) and the name 'Witbank' was derived from a white quartz outcrop, which according to Thomas Baines, "lommed like a wagon tent in the distance'. The town was laid out by Witbank Colliery in 1903 and Samuel Stanford erected the first wood and iron buildng consisting of a shop and hotel. Witbank grew from a wild mining camp into a city in an 88-year period and its economy developed a wide base, restricted not only to coal mining but incorporating steel manufacturing, power generation and professional services, as well as the informal sector. The collieries presently in operation mostly use the opencast mining method due to the proximity of coal close to the surface. Railway lines to Richards Bay and Johannesburg were added to those from Pretoria and Maputo, (Lourenco Marques) and excellent road infrastructure exists between all major cities and centres within and outside the province. The city, with an approximate population of 500 000 people of diverse cultures, boasts the largest municipal dam in the Southern hemisphere, with a catchment area exceeding 3540 square km. The dam area is used extensively for water sports and has camping, caravan sites and chalet accommodation. The adjoining nature reserve is a nature-lover's delight, with 50 different tree species and 150 flower varieties, amongst which are the rare ground orchids and gladiola type. It supports a wide variety of game species and various trails have been mapped out in the reserve, where 173 bird species can be detected. The city is provinical home to may sporting disciplines and performing arts. Regular productions of the performing arts are presented in the fully equipped, five hundred seater civic theatre, which forms part of the Witbank Cultural Centre. The curltural centre is situated in the central business district, with easy access from the main motorway and incorporates a city and banquet hall. Tourist attractions include the nature reserve, industrial coal mine and power station tours, cultural experiences, adventure sport, environmental activities and water sport. The city also boasts several top class golf courses. There are several accommodation possibilities, such as hotels, B&B's, self catering units, lodges, as well as camping and caravanning. An hour's drive from Johannesburg International Airport, Witbank can provide an ideal overnight stop with various activities to entertain visitors as they enter the 'Gateway to Mpumalanga'. Witbank owes it's establishment to the rich coal deposits in the area. Early travelers in the area, such as Thomas Baines, as far back as 1872 mentioned the coal used by local residents as fuel.Evidence has also been gound that first the Black man and later the Voortrekkers mined coal from the outcrop, especially in the riverbeds and transported it by ox-wagon to the Witwatersrand.Actual systematic mining at Witbank, however, on started in 1896 when Samuel Stanford, together with the Neumann Group, established the company Witbank Colliery Limited and sank the first shaft on the farm Witbank. Earlier, the farm was generally knows as Swartbosch, although the offical name was Leraatsfontein. It was given the name Witbank because it was not so cumbersome and because of the large quartz roc which, in the words of Thomas Baines, "loomed like a wagon tent in the distance." Because of the poor agricultural conditions, the owner of the farm, Jacob Taljaard, made a precarious living and as a result, his neighbors name the farm "Hongerplaas" (Hunger arm). The town Witbank was laid out in 1903 by Witbank Colliery Limited and in the same year Samuel Stanford erected the first wood and iron building, consisting of a shop and a hotel. Witbank Colliery Limited controlled the town until 9 April 1906 when a health committee was appointed. On 13 May 1910 a village council was elected and on 8 November 1914 the town was granted municipal status. The mining of coal did not initially result in a population increase. The advent of the railway line between Pretoria and Mapato put the mining industry on an economic basis and therafter the population increased considerably. Originally the early residents of Witbank area were mainly stock farmers as there was no market for agricultural produce. Wool was transported once a year by ox-wagon to Durban where it was sold. Crops were restructed to the needs of the family. Today, mixed farming is practiced in the area. Because of the coal mines in production in the area, Witbank is one of the Republic's most important industrial centers with industrial giants such as Highveld Steel, Columbus Stainless and Vanadium and Ferrometals Limited. Witbank now forms part of a large municipality called Emahlaleni incorporating the towns of Kriel and Ogiese.
